Sonata Senior Living, an Orlando-based owner, developer and operator of senior living communities, is pleased to announce that construction is underway on its third purpose-built memory care assisted living community, Serenades by Sonata in The Villages. The 45 unit, 56 bed community will be located at 2450 Parr Drive, just southeast of the intersection of County Road 466 and Belvedere Blvd., adjacent to The Villages Public Library.
Scheduled to open in December 2013, the community is specifically designed and programmed to care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other memory impairments. Sonata’s Serenades program has been recognized by the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) in 2012 and 2011 as “Best of the Best” for its state-of-the-art purpose-built design and innovative programming centered on “person-directed care.”
“Alzheimer’s currently afflicts more than 5.5 million Americans and that number is expected to increase dramatically as our population ages,” said Sonata CEO and President, Stuart J. Beebe. “As part of The Villages’ commitment to provide world class healthcare across the care continuum, they recognize that a growing number of residents and their loved ones will be faced with the need for specialized memory care. It is a privilege to bring our Serenades program to The Villages and to be associated with the visionary leadership that is redefining the way seniors are cared for in our country,” said Beebe.
“This is a much needed and welcome addition to The Villages,” said Scott Renick, The Villages’ Director of Commercial Development. “Sonata Senior Living is a well-respected organization and Serenades will be an enhancement to the state-of-the art medical facilities here.”
Serenades by Sonata will offer specialized care in the award-winning memory care assisted living community featuring three distinct “neighborhoods”, each comprised of 15 units offering spacious private and semi-private suites. Each neighborhood has a kitchen and dining area, as well as a living room that opens to a sunroom and into a fully accessible 10,000 s.f. inviting interior courtyard boasting lush gardens, walking paths, butterfly gardens and raised gardening beds.
The single story, 37,500 s.f. building is designed to create a home-like, comfortable environment that encourages freedom and choice for residents while integrating the latest safety features and technologies in an unobtrusive manner. The community also includes a family lounge, a putting green and children’s play area to provide comfortable, inviting venues that encourage families to visit and share in the lives of their loved ones.
“When the time comes to place a loved one in a memory care community, the decision can be difficult and overwhelming for families,” said Shelley Esden, SVP of Operations for Sonata Senior Living. “We help alleviate that anxiety by encouraging families to help us establish individualized care that includes lifestyle elements vital to their loved one’s connection with the past and the present. This individualized care is combined with consistent staffing and a warm inviting environment giving the resident direction to a life filled with daily successes and moments of joy, which also helps families during this difficult transition.”
Ultimately, Serenades purpose-built design integrates the latest technologies, environmental considerations, award-winning programming and resident directed care that promote resident success for a competitive monthly fee. This monthly fee includes choice of suite, all utilities, homelike meals, all programming, plus clinical oversight by our licensed nursing staff on site 24/7, certified and highly trained caregivers, in house physician and therapy services, and hospice services.
